Our apartment, etc.

Someone has asked me to post photos of our apartment, including the WC. Actually, it is surprising to have a WC separate from the bathroom in a two-bedroom apartment. (We move to a 3-bedroom in July, but they were all taken in June.) The building is sturdy, with stone/tile floors, heavily tiled bathroom walls, solid windows that double as doors (no screens and no A/C). And we've previously posted photos of the little playground in the courtyard right outside our front door--a real gathering place for families.

Maya is showing the relative size of our refrigerator/freezer, and Daniel tells me that if you look closely at the photo of him in the kitchen (left-click on it for a larger view), he has two Pringles stuck in his mouth like a duck's bill.

On Thursday evening, we joined university students (and other visitors like us) at the ecumenical center across the street to watch Germany play Portugal on the giant screen. What excitement, and what blasted ear drums! I realized that we never really experience this kind of international sports competition in the US except during the Olympics.
